Every layer, in order.

Read top to bottom and you have the sequence of a real job, which is exactly how it gets quoted.

01

Excavation & Site Preparation

Site cuts, house and shed pads, batters, trenching, stripping and bulk levelling. Everything is set out and shot to level first, so what comes next has something true to sit on.

  • Site cuts, pads and levelling
  • Trenching and service runs
  • Batters, benching and spoil handling
  • Set out and levels before the first bucket

02

Drainage & Civil Works

Stormwater lines, precast pits, channel drains, pipe culverts and headwalls, plus rock beaching at the outlet so the fall you built does not scour itself out in the first big storm.

  • Stormwater and surface drainage
  • Precast pits and channel drains
  • Pipe culverts and headwalls
  • Rock beaching and scour protection

03

Retaining & Feature Walls

Rock-faced block walls that curve with the ground, and timber-post walls set in concrete for a softer look. Drainage behind the wall goes in as part of the wall, not as an afterthought.

  • Rock-faced and split-face block walls
  • Timber post and sleeper walls
  • Agricultural drain and backfill behind
  • Curved and stepped runs on sloping ground

04

Driveways & Concreting

Concrete driveways, crossovers, aprons and slabs, and gravel drives where that suits the block better. Prepared, boxed, reinforced and finished so water runs off it instead of sitting on it.

  • Concrete driveways and crossovers
  • Shed slabs, aprons and paths
  • Gravel and crushed rock driveways
  • Falls set so it drains away from the house

05

Paving, Paths & Steps

Travertine and large-format patios, circular entries, paths and timber-riser steps. Cut borders and cobble bands are set out on the ground first, so a curve reads as a curve and not a series of short straights.

  • Patios, courtyards and entertaining areas
  • Entry circles, paths and stepping runs
  • Cobble borders and cut banding
  • Timber-riser and paved steps

A whole yard, or just the hard bit.

Some jobs are a full transformation. Plenty are one wall, one drain or one driveway that has been on the list for two years. Both get quoted the same way, and both get the same finish.

Service questions.

Can you do just the excavation?

Yes. Plenty of jobs are a cut, a trench or a pad for someone else to build on. Phoenix is happy to do the earthworks and hand it over set out and to level.

Do you take on rural properties?

Yes. Farm entries, crossings, culverts, drainage and the landscaping around sheds and offices are regular work, alongside suburban blocks.

Will you sort the drainage while you are there?

That is the whole point of doing both trades. Drainage goes in while the ground is already open, which is far cheaper than cutting a finished driveway back up later.

How do I get a price?

Call or text Phoenix on 0422 522 792, or send the form and describe the job. Online estimates are available if you would rather not book a site visit yet, and an on-site quote is free either way.
